Changes, Changes, Changes

Our little monkey has changed so much since my "Big Accomplishments" post only 2 weeks ago. In the last two weeks Kate has done the following major things: (notice our "tummy time blanket" that appears in every picture)

1) Kate has mastered rolling over. She can roll over from her tummy to her back and from her back to her tummy whenever she wants. She can also roll over both directions from both positions (However, she prefers to the left from her back to her tummy, and to the right from her tummy to her back). I have some video of it, but I don't really know how to post it. So, you will just have to trust me on this one.

2) Kate can easily sit up for over 10 minutes (if she wants to). Basically, she can sit up until she gets interested in a toy that she can't reach while sitting. I have been extremely impressed with her balance. She can lean very far to the side and back and still recover and not fall over. She is also aware that her hands can help her and uses them to push back up if she leans too far. She is very strong and definitely has her Daddy's balance.

3) Kate can hold her own bottle (again, if she wants to). Her hand coordination has vastly improved. Sometimes, she just doesn't feel like it, but she can hold it by herself for most of the time that she eats. Occassionally, I have to put it back in her mouth, but she does a pretty good job.

4) Kate is very good at blowing bubbles and making noises with her little mouth. She thinks it is very entertaining. Sometimes, Daddy will make noise at her and she will do it back. (But she is nothing compared to cousin Brennan, he does it back all the time). It is fun for us to play with her on this one, especially Daddy!

5) Kate has found her feet. She tries to get them all the time. She especially likes her feet when she has on her shiny black dress shoes. She can grab her feet when she lies on her back, but she can only get them in her mouth if she sits and leans over to them. (her legs are a little short, so it is hard to for her to force them in her mouth from the laying down position). This isn't the best pic, but it is the only one I can find for now.

6) Kate is on the move!!! She has been able to turn around in circles and scoot backward a long ways for several weeks (shame on Momma for not posting those things). However, Kate is beginning to move FORWARD. At first, she would just push up a little and try to lunge forward. Now, she pulls her knees up under her, pushes her rear to her feet and bounces for a second, and then makes the big push forward. It is too cute! She goes back much better than she goes forward, but she is definitely getting the hang of it. She will be getting into everything before we know it!

Many changes for our small family! In no time, we will join some of our friends in truly baby-proofing our home. With the ability to put nearly anything in the mouth and the ability to move, our lives will definitely change alot. We are looking forward to all of the new challenges and events! We just love our little monkey so much!!!
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to keep a record of all of Kate's new "tricks". Oh, I almost forgot, I won some awards (actually, the same award more than once). More on that in a later post!

I'm not sure, but I think you win the prize for the longest post. Jessica comes in a close second. Loved seeing all the updates.

As the mom of the little girl who waited until 10 months to crawl (and then it was a gimp crawl), I'm very impressed that Kate is about to be there already!! Way to go, Kate - what a big girl!

Wow Krista! Kate is doing a lot already!! She's so advanced! Kinsey has been rolling for a while now, but no where near sitting or wanting to crawl!
